  The Rebel (A) I believe the fact is most of us are Watsons and don't smoke a pipe and play a violin (lol) nor do most of us come to these Sherlock Holmes conclusions " When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable must be the truth.

  So, ok let's get real to the facts. I believe most of us can be Watson and cry " Excellent" to such noncence whilst those that we follow say " Elementary".

  So here is some more Sherlock Holmes " It is a capital mistake to theorise in advance of the facts and the insensible one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts"

  In this case do we like Watson say " Excellent" or do we go further and search for proof these facts presented by Sherlock are really facts.

  Thr Rebel:- LOL , but at least Slimboyfat is sincere and presents reasons why we should believe his point of view. My questions are therefore directed at Slim:-

  A) Do you honestly expect people to belive " The Earth is Flat?

  B) "Do you know where babies come from?

  Slim my above questions are not cynicle, just trying to understand your sincere point of view and I believe :-

  A) if you are sure you know where babies come from then you should be equally sure the earth is not flat.

  B) If you can offer proof the earth is flat then you are one of the world greatest minds.

  C) Assuming you are one of the worlds greatest minds, I think until you can offer conclusive proof the earth is flat, your thoughts are best shared over a drink than by playing ping pong with such thoughts on an ex J.W discussion forum.

  Anyway in conclusion I believe I am over my J.W exsperience and the only reason I remain a member of this forum is that it has so many interesting thinkers, and decent human beings. Slim you fit into both those categories.

  Types attracted to the sect known as jehovahs witnesses.

  l have observed the types of people attracted to the sect are many times unbalanced,unstable,emotionally insecure types.the jdubs seem to home in like vulchers circling the prey ,preying on the vulnerables.they tried it on me when my father who was an elder died.promising that if you become a dub you will one day see him again.l said how can you promise that when you keep making false misleading predictions.l was wondering if others have observed this phenomenon.

  The Rebel (A) We shouldn't overlook the attraction of someone going to a great deal of trouble coming to "your "door each week to reach you with the " truth"

  I mention the above because that's when the " brain washing begins".

  Ovbiously it's easier to "prey" on those not in full time employment,but instead those at home during the week. The relationship between study conductor and " bible" student then has to be a strong one, and progress until an invitation to a non-threatening event ( meeting at the K.H) is agreed.

  Now the " love-bombing" takes effect, ect ect.

  Having progressed to this stage it's time to introduce the negatives as the "bible study" is exspected to ask less difficult questions and accept the absurd, whilst attending more " non-threatening" events. If the " bible student" does not do this they are made to feel guilty and unworthy of association.

  So I believe the only way a person can be converted from the door to door ministry is:-

  A) If the Jehovers Witness can target a recruit generally looking for a purpose in their life.

  B) If the Jehovers Witness is able to "sincerely" befriend the new recruit and gently lead them through the process of " brain washing" one step at a time, over many months.

  C) And those that stay and advance in the organisation do so because they have generally developed a sence of superiority.

  D) Rational thinking has little to do with any of of this.

  Office Jargon, drives me nuts

  'granular' seems to be the latest buzz word going around my office.

  previously it was 'appetite'.. abstract words that appear to be designed to make the person saying it appear powerful and part of the 'team'.. as lord sugar has observed before; why not just speak english and say what you mean.. office jargon really annoys me.

  i had enough loaded language and jargon in the disgusting jw cult..

  Well Punk at least office jargon has been " taken to the next level" from when female staff were referred to as " birds" " she's fit" or " bunny". Those were the days when " Be there or be square" "and " feel the funk" were at least " buzz" words I could understand the meaning of. Nowadays I find myself having to desifer the meaning to "buzz" words such as " square the circle" which I think is supposed to sound clever, but actually I have no idea what the guy is saying.

  Anyway I must get back to my " strategic staircase" which I think means continue on my business plan. So I won't let " the grass grow to long" with this post " may the force be with you" and I hope we can " touch base latter"

  The Rebel, " I am not sure if " Bollocks" is in the Queens English, but " Bollocks" are difficult to receive, but this is the criteria for receiving one of Coftys " Bollocks"

  Cofty explaining why I received the honour in a former post. " Occasionally an assertion appears on the forum that is so egregious that it really doesn't deserve the time and energy to refute it. At these times " Bollocks" is the appropriate response. I suspect 4 or 5 people have been granted a " Bollocks" to date"

  The Rebel. I would suggest if or when you have received a " Bollocks" from Cofty we list them in a Magnificent Limited Addition Book, called " Bollocks" It would look great on the mantle piece and serve as a reminder we should think before we post.

  A) "The opposite of knowlege is love"

  B) " A thought is not thinking"

  Well we are now on Coftys series " Evolution is a fact" pt 7, and I I have contacted the Jehovers Witness London Headquarters in Edgware for a responce and submit the reply:-

  Dear Apostate Cofty , thank you for your thoughts on Evolution, please understand we want you to be our friend, but the bible is our only authority in addition let us look at a scripture for proof evolution is wrong " in the beginning God Created the earth". And that is proof enough for us.

  Therefore dear Apostate your posts on Evolution have a luck of scriptural support to support your thinking,. This is clarified because as keen bible students we only use reference supported from the bible.Therefore with what " little time remains before the end of this system" we suggest you repent and accept that Jehover is in fall control.

  Please accept our warm Christan love and best wishes, with one final thought EVOLTION is an EVIL-ILLUSION.

  fulltimestudent, that was a fun video, and may I say I think it great that such sketches in the year 2016, no longer display Gay men as puny neurotic and with vulnability.

  On a serious note I grew up on films such as Buthch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, ( Paul Newman, Robert Redford) which I now view as films about men who secretly were in love with each other, and incapable of committing to a woman. So joking aside I think your video crashed that bogus superficiality of sexuality, and the cold calculating images I once worshipped such as Bronson in death wish or Eastwood in Dirty Harry. Anyway I now see these portrays of masculinity as shallow and damaging to modern society and a persons sexuality.

  Sorry if my post subtracted from the good humor intended with the thread but I really think real male images of masculinity presented in films by Al Pacinos homosexual portrayal of Sonny in Dog Day afternoon, or entertainers like Elton John, and David Bowies courage to be honest about their sexuality has helped change our culture and give liberation to people so they can come out as gay.

  Once again sorry about the serious post, but threads like yours, I hope help people like me accept my former prejudice was wrong and what I was taught by an organistion was wrong and many of the films I watched were wrong in there portrayal of what makes a man.

  a recent thread i read about bethel " sending an old man packing" has bought to my attention it's one of many threads that show the most " loving" organisation in the world is cold and without love.. how can an organisation that is so unloving, have so many kind hearted people as members?.

  And so for the moment, the matter rests with punks observation Money, and may I add a declining property empire, that none the less is compensated for by inheriting members family homes.

  The other deep things of " Jehovers Organisation" is there is no compensation for years wasted in the organisation, and members are further ridiculed by having to sing ridiculouse kingdom melodies which breach the term associated with pleasant singing and musical instruments being played with passion.

  " Truly I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom oh heaven" .Translation:- No Skill/ Talent Required, to inherit the fantastic give-away offer of understanding the deeper things of Jehover. Only total 100% obedience to Jehovers organisation.

  I have now pondered my O.P for two days, and my answer to my question " How such an unloving organisation can have so many kind hearted is:-

  A) I must accept we all have our bind spots when rationality can take a back seat to emotions, and this is particularly true if :-

  1) if a person is indoctrinated at a young age.

  2) Also social pressure to remain faithful can cloud a persons judgement.

  3) There is also the high cost of rejecting our faith.

  Sadly my kind heartedness is not so benevolent to those that remain in the " truth" for ego and for positions of respect when they know the damage the organistion has and is doing to its members.
